A new concept for us: wood over glass. The glass sea monster/dragon body is etched, and leopardwood pieces were cut to fit over the etched design. Since the etched and carved glass dragon head has spikes, I woodburned spikes along the wood over the glass to continue the design. Each side of the box will have this dragon body and head, but facing opposite ways. I am REALLY creeped out by the idea of sea monsters. If there were still pleiosaurs out there, that would be really cool, but I would not be going on any more ocean trips. Sharks are bad enough. And gators. Or really anything that could eat you. Being eaten tops my list of "ways I do not want to die."
And a reminder: the Texas legislature is back in special session this week and will be making war on Texas women. Don't sit silently. Go out to the Capitol, write and call senators, blog, scream, and don't let the Texas Taliban do this without a mighty fuss. I suspect that next it will occur to our Republicans that when women get educated, they start getting all uppity, so perhaps they'd better restrict education to males.
