We have just been accepted to the Texas State Art Fair in Kerrville this May, and we're stoked.
So we're working on waves and curves carved into wood. Excellent examples can be found at Everlasting Tree Urns on Etsy. We want to do things a bit differently- more gentle rolls and curves for the touchability factor. This pic is my latest effort- it turned out really soft and wavy, and is beautiful inside and out. This is my preferred mode of carving- shaping wood with a mallet and chisel rather than carving designs. It is painstaking work, with an unbelievable amount of sanding involved. The curl in the maple of this top intensifies the wave effect- it's striking. I will definitely be doing more of these. This box is now for sale at the bottom of our "Constructed Boxes" page.
